There's a million reasons why people blog these days-- some people like to show all the fun places they have traveled to, some people like to share their favorite recipes, and some people just like to talk about the struggles they encounter in their everyday lives. In all of these cases, these people have a desire to share information and experiences they have lived through. And I am no different.
For me, this particular blog is about my life around art and design, which has always been my passion, and for the past 10 years or so has been my career. It started with a little drawing I made for my dad in kindergarten for Father's Day, which was turned into a plate and has withstood the test of time all these years. Then in elementary school I was obsessed with drawing The Little Mermaid all the time. I remember styling my hair like her off to one side (and still do it to this day!) In junior high I learned to draw Sailor Moon and all her friends, and in High School I learned how to design yearbooks with photos and type. Yearbook camp was the best fun, ever! I went on to going to journalism school first, working for the newspaper and designing the front pages for the local newspaper.
My "hunger" to learn more about design did not stop there. I eventually went back to school to study graphic design. During this time, friends started getting married and would ask me to help design their wedding invitations and other pieces -- Which led me to my next hobby - wedding and event design. My first pieces were pretty meh at first but I think I have gotten a lot better over the years!
After I graduated with a BFA in Graphic Design I went straight to working full-time as a designer, but I have always done freelance work on the side. I am still doing wedding and other event design now, but it's always been a dream of mine to start and maintain my own design business. I want this blog to not just be about the things I design, but also a place where I can share other inspirations to designers like me. I want to set a goal and actually see it through to fruition.
Phew, k that was a lot longer back-story than meant to be, but I guess I have a lot on my mind!
OK, Here are 5 things I would like to share on my blog:
1. Recent client work and personal work
2. Inspiration: anything related to design such as fashion, interior design, typography etc..
3. Doodles: I want to make a point to draw a little more this year!
4. Freebies: cool stuff I make or find for free for you!
5. Sale items: Stuff I make to sell on my store
What I won't share on this blog is anything on my personal life. I have a separate blog for that!
